Announcing the Fellows of the Japan-US Science Communication and Policy Fellowship Program.

IRVINGTON, NEW YORK, USA, Aug. 22, 2022 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST) Foundation in partnership with the Center for Professional Development and Inclusive Excellence of the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (C-HUB), Wilbury Theater Group and University of California Science to Policy, with funding from the Japan Foundation.

The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST) Foundation, Center for Professional Development and Inclusive Excellence (C-HUB) of Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology, Wilbury Theater Group and the University of California, Riverside Science to Policy — has named 22 fellows for the inaugural Japan-US Science Communication & Policy Fellowship Network program, funded by the Japan Foundation.

The new fellows, based in Japan and the United States, represent a wide range of scientific disciplines and research fields, ranging from doctoral students to assistant professors and scientists. All were selected for their scientific achievements, their commitment to strengthening Japan-US relations, and their desire to effectively and strategically communicate scientific findings and research to policy makers and the public.

Through the program, these early-career scientists from Japan and the United States will participate in bilateral training and exchange for effective communication for strategic collaboration with policy makers. Selected fellows will participate in a year-long cohort experience and receive training to communicate science-based policy to a broad audience, promoting meaningful cooperation between the two countries on global challenges by bridging a critical gap between science and politics.
