Courtesy call on Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno Hirokazu by His Excellency Eng. Kamel Elwazer, Minister of Transport of the Arab Republic of Egypt


On September 28, starting at 1:25 p.m. for about 25 minutes, Mr. MATSUNO Hirokazu, Chief Cabinet Secretary of Japan, received a courtesy visit from HE Eng. Kamel Elwazer, Minister of Transport of the Arab Republic of Egypt, visiting Japan to attend the state funeral of late former Prime Minister Abe as President El-Sisi’s special envoy. The overview is as follows:

  • Initially, Minister Elwazer delivered President El-Sisi’s letter addressed to Prime Minister Kishida to Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno and expressed his sincere condolences on the passing of the late former Prime Minister Abe. In response, Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno expressed his gratitude for Minister Elwazer’s presence at the state funeral of former Prime Minister Abe and said he wanted Minister Elwazer to convey Japan’s deep gratitude to the President El-Sissi.
  • Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno appreciated that the Japanese-Egyptian relationship, which was strengthened by the strong trust between former Prime Minister Abe and President El-Sisi, has borne fruit, as the society on the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), Line 4 of the Cairo Metro. , Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) and Japanese education system in Egypt. He also expressed his expectation of an increase in investment from Japanese companies thanks to the improvement of the investment environment in Egypt. In response, Minister Elwazer expressed his gratitude for Japan’s support to Egypt in various fields, both public and private, and expressed his expectation of further Japanese investment in Egypt.
  • In addition, the two sides reaffirmed the partnership between the two countries and agreed on the continuation of the company to further strengthen bilateral relations.
