Former finance chief Carlos Dominguez III received Japan’s Distinguished Award for Local and Non-Local Public Servants from Japanese Emperor Naruhito.

Domiguez was awarded the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun on November 19 for exercising “outstanding leadership in promoting cooperation” between “Japan and the Philippines.”

Initially given only to Japanese citizens, the award began to be given to non-Japanese nationals as well in 1981.
