Ticket Reminder Features Narration From Another Studio Ghibli Co-Founder.

We are less than three months away from the opening of Ghibli Parkthe Studio Ghibli theme park being built in Aichi Prefecture just outside of Nagoya. As with the Ghibli Museum in Tokyo, entry to Ghibli Park is by reservation only, pre-purchase, and the park has released an animated encore video produced by none other than anime director extraordinaire Hayao Miyazaki.

Coming from the right edge of the frame, this is what first appears to be That of my neighbor Totoro Catbus, but it turns out it’s actually a cat train, wearing a number of actors from the Studio Ghibli filmography. In the front is Totoro himself, accompanied by medium size blue Totoro and Meiwhile the second segment of train passengers includes No Face and the spirit of the radish of Taken away as if by magic.

The video is actually a reworking of an animated sequence that Miyazaki drew for the opening of the Ghibli Museum in 2001, but updated with the message “Park Ghibli opens November 1” written along the side of the Cattrain.

▼ The existence of multiple forms of feline transport can also be seen in the Totoro half suite Mei and the kittenbus.

In addition to artwork by Miyazaki, the video features music by the longtime Ghibli composer Jo Hisaishi (who also directs the live action Totoro play in London) and narration by the producer Toshio Suzukione of the three co-founders of Ghibli, who informs us that Park Ghibli tickets go on sale on the 10th of every month and asks visitors “Take your time to come” in keeping with the park’s desire for an uncluttered environment and an unhurried atmosphere.

Additionally, Ghibli Park has released a handful of new preview photos for sections of the park that will open in November..

▼ The central staircase of the Great Warehouse of Ghibli

▼ The Dondokodo playground in the Dondoko forest, with its giant Totoro statue that kids can step into

▼ Mei and Satsuki’s house in Dondoko Forest

▼ The Elevator Tower, which also serves as the entrance to the Youth Hill area

Whisper of the heart Chikyuya antique shop, also in the Hill of Youth section
