Nissan Digital will hire engineering students with disabilities under the program

APJ Abdul Kalam University of Technology (KTU) and automaker Nissan Digital launched the ‘Campus Connect’ program on Saturday in a bid to connect engineering students with industry.

The Consul General of Japan, Taga Masayuki, opened the event at the Nissan Digital India office at Technopark.

An expression of interest was exchanged between Nissan Digital and KTU at the event.

The initiative envisions the development of academic programs to develop the technical skills of students, the placement of selected students in appropriate positions at Nissan Digital, encouraging B.Tech. and M.Tech. students to undertake internships and projects at Nissan, development and implementation of optional industry subjects with the university for industry preparation, exploration of the possibility of hiring student researchers in specific areas, increasing the interaction between teachers and Nissan experts, hiring 100 final-year students with disabilities from engineering colleges under KTU, helping students pass Japanese language proficiency test level 3, and recruiting students colleges located in rural areas and women’s colleges.

Japanese Consul General Taga Masayuki praised Nissan Digital and the university for implementing innovative ideas in the industry-university collaboration. Ramesh Miraje, Nissan Division General Manager and Head of Nissan Digital India, said “Campus Connect” would pave the way for improved Nissan operations in Thiruvananthapuram and foster links between industry and academia by identifying young talent.

University union members PK Biju, Vinod Kumar Jacob, Managing Director of Nissan Motor Ltd. Kenji Minami, HR Director of Nissan Digital India Jaljeet Narayanan, Dean of KTU (Research) Shalij PR, Principal of Trinity College of Engineering Arun Surendran, Principals of various engineering colleges, executive placement and executives of Nissan Digital participated in the event.
